Field Collecting New Guinea Art, Finisterre Mountains, Morobe Province.
Another typical field collecting scene. There I am in the center dressed for a long day’s walk with hat and holding a sturdy walking stick—knowing I will be going up and down steep and muddy slopes for the next six or seven hours. I see a couple of my men had dropped their loads to rest. Not sure why the crowd has gathered. They tended to do so in remote areas—circa 2008.
