Large Basket, Finisterre Mountains, New Guinea Art, Oceanic Art, Tribal Art, South Pacific Art
In remote areas of Papua New Guinea one never knows what he or she will come across and as an art dealer you need to keep an open mind as what constitutes art. Here is my longtime friend and field collector Raymond Kuaru standing next to an enormous basket used to store pandanus seeds, somewhere in the remote Finisterre or Sarawaget Mountain Range, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea. This would not have fit in the small missionary aircraft so we could not bring this one out.
