Yes, all too common New Guinea “road.” A muddy slog up and a slippery one down. Your shoes would be caked with pounds of mud that was heavy going uphill and acted like roller-skates going down. Before starting such a day I would call out “stick!’ and someone would go into the bush and hack out a stout walking stick for me to use. Invaluable.
