My approach to the Upper Karawari River was different. I did not start on the Sepik and follow the rivers up as far as I could go. Instead I took a missionary aircraft and flew into the Central Highlands and walked a week to the very headwaters of the Karawari. On the trek one night we had to spend the night under this massive boulder for shelter. Pleasant enough but sleep was fitful hoping to god there was no earthquake to tip the boulder on top of us.
